The newest issue of UFC Magazine features undisputed UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar on the front cover with a review of his fight against Shane Carwin at UFC 116 and previews his upcoming title defence against challenger Cain Valasquez at UFC 121 on October 23rd at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California USA.
Interestingly both Lesnar and Valasquez have a Catch Wrestling connection: Lesnar is learning aspects of Catch Wrestling via trainer Erik Paulson (in addition to Boxing with Peter Welch, Wrestling with head coach Marty Morgan and BJJ with Rodrigo Medeiros) and Cain Valasquez’ head trainer at the American Kickboxing Academy is “Crazy” Bob Cook who learned submission grappling under Frank Shamrock (who learned from brother adoptive Ken Shamrock, and Masakatsu Funaki)
